Jane van de Ven

RN, MScN, Psychotherapist

Counselling, Psychotherapy, Nursing Consultation / Navigation, Reiki

As a Registered Nurse for 30 years, I have worked in various settings ranging from acute and sub-acute hospitals, community care, and post-secondary education.

I completed my Master’s of Science in Nursing from Queen’s University in 2015, which has provided me with the skills and ability to analyze evidence-based literature and research. I am also a life-long learner who continues to further my education through completing additional courses and workshops.

I became a Usui / Holy Fire II First and Second Degree Reiki practitioner in 2017 and have witnessed the benefits of delivering this positive energy to others.

As a mother of three (now adults) and a step-mother (of a teenager), I have experienced the stresses of life through love and loss, chronic pain, family illness, job transitions, burnout, and complexity of multiple competing responsibilities. I have personally benefitted from receiving online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which is one of the reasons I am drawn to help others who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout. The therapeutic relationship is very important for healing and finding the right therapist was very challenging.

I have supported and navigated many clients and their family members, as well as my own family members through their cancer diagnoses and treatments. The healthcare system can be so complex and confusing for non-medical individuals. I would like to be a resource that can support and guide people through their healthcare journeys as needed.

I have a client-centred approach and I value the diversity of others. I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT - for Trauma), autism, ADHD, and addictions. I completed a 2SLGBTQ Foundations course from Rainbow Health Ontario to enhance my capacity for individuals who identify within this community. I also completed Aboriginal Relationship and Cultural Competency education from Cancer Care Ontario to enrich a deeper cultural understanding for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals.

How I got Started

I am passionate about providing high quality, non-judgmental care to individuals and their families.

In the current healthcare climate there is lack of accessibility to healthcare providers.  Illnesses are more complex and mental health care needs are not being met.

In recognizing the need for a holistic and client-centered approach to wellness, I was guided to establish a private nursing practice where comprehensive care and compassion converge.

My Compassionate Approach

At Caring Heart Wellness Therapy Services, I believe in nurturing the whole person.

My genuine concern for each client's well-being shines through in every interaction, providing a supportive environment where individuals feel safe, heard, and understood.
